May 11, 2021 Parents and Community Members, We are pleased to share that an arrest has been made in the school threat case. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department has worked tirelessly to solve and find the individual who has been making threats to Wolf Creek Local School and other schools in the area. As a result of the recent arrest, we will be having regular school tomorrow on Wednesday. Field Trips that were scheduled will take place. We have requested the presence of the Washington County Sheriff's Department around the school to ensure the safety of staff and students. In addition, we will have access to the Washington County Crisis team, counselors, and school psychologist for anyone who needs their services. Thank you all for your continued support. These events have shown how special our community is, especially for the continued support. Go Cats! Douglas A. Baldwin
May 7, 2021 As many of you are aware, we have had a couple of situations in the last couple of days. First I would like to thank the staff in both buildings for the excellent job they have done in keeping the students safe and calm in this stressful time. I would also like to thank the community for their support during these events. On May 6th, the High School received a phone call that there was a bomb in the building. Both buildings were evacuated at this time. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was quickly on site and received support from the following units - The Ohio University Police Department, The City of Marietta Police Department, The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. These agencies were on site and cleared the buildings in a timely manner. On May 7th, the High School received another phone call that there was a bomb in the building. Again the above agencies were on site and cleared the facilities. After the buildings were cleared and considered safe, an additional call came in that there was a shooter on campus and then a second immediate call that there was a bomb about to go off. At this time, the decision was to lockdown the building. These agencies were still in the area and were immediately back on site. At this time the decision was made to keep the students safe in the building as the building was deemed safe. As there were additional calls coming in, it was decided to send the students home as there was uncertainty of the future of the day. The bus drivers did an excellent job in assisting in transporting the students safely. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is currently working on this case and will update as events unfold. There will be crisis counselors in the buildings on Monday to work with students who would like to talk to them regarding the events of the past two days. Please advise your children to ask their teacher to talk to someone if there is a need. Also, please contact the school if you would like to have your student meet with a counselor to discuss the events. All events that are scheduled for this weekend will take place as scheduled. Sincerely, Douglas A. Baldwin
All students have been placed on the bus, picked up and are enroute to their evening destination. They were not permitted to bring anything home tonight as they was not permitted in either building. I want to thank the Wolf Creek Community for support today. I also want thank our students and staff for their cooperation during today's events. Both the high school and the elementary schools have been cleared by law enforcement in order to make our schools safe for Friday.
Wolf Creek Local received a bomb threat around 1:40. All students have been removed from buildings. Washington County Sheriffs office is on site. We will notify you as things develop. Please do not call the school or arrive to pick up students at this time

Because of a contract that Fort Frye has, we will not be able to live stream the boys basketball games tonight. If would wish to watch their live stream, it can be found at kgp.tv and you will have to pay $8 to watch.
Change to school schedule leading up to Christmas Break In an effort to finish semester exams and get materials and chromebooks distributed, we will have school with students on Friday and Monday. We will then have a practice remote day on Tuesday. This day will also count as a day of instruction. Teachers will be noting the number of students who attend this virtual session. We will be sending home student Chromebooks and chargers on Monday. If you do not want your child to bring home a Chromebook please notify your child's school. They will need a device to connect to the virtual day. Teachers will be scheduling a short class on Tuesday for all students. Although it will not count against students attendance if they can not log in, teachers will be taking attendance of those who do connect. Please assist your student in joining their class during their designated time. This will assist in determining any connectivity issues that the students may have and how we can work with families to resolve those. This remote learning day will assist the district in gathering data to determine the opportunity for success with students in the future if we need to move to remote instruction. I can't emphasize enough that we are planning to return to school on January 5th with in-person learning. In the event we would be required to close by state or local government, we have an excessive number of students out as a result of quarantine, inability to staff our buildings, excessive number of snow days, or any other unforeseen circumstances we may be forced to use remote learning. Thank you for the support that you have given the school in our efforts to keep our doors open.

Baldwin, Superintendent PO Box 67 Waterford, Ohio 45786 (740) 984-2373 Fax (740) 984-4420 _____________________________________________________________________ December 11, 2020 Dear Wolf Creek Community, I hope this update finds you and your family well and safe. We only have 7 more days until Christmas Break. It is our goal to keep school running as normal as possible for those 7 days. We greatly appreciate all that you have done for the staff and students during this pandemic. I also must commend our staff and students on how they have worked to make this year happen in person. In the past few days we have needed to quarantine several students and staff throughout the district. Many of those are a result of close contacts with a positive COVID case. It is very important that if you have a child that is ill, that they remain home until they are symptom free. A reminder that common symptoms of COVID-19 are: Loss of Taste or Smell Fever - but not always Cough Sore Throat Shortness of Breath Fatigue Diarrhea or vomiting Runny nose Body and/or muscle aches This is not a conclusive list of symptoms. Also, please remember that COVID-19 is not the only illness that is hitting our area. If your child is displaying any symptoms of illness, please keep them home. I would like to repeat the message that if someone in your household is experiencing COVID like symptoms please keep your child or children home. If your children have been exposed to someone who has tested positive please keep them home and monitor them and report this to the school. Children who arrive at school with symptoms will be sent home. When a child has been exposed to a positive case, they need to stay home and quarantine for a minimum of 10 days. Please contact the school to report this exposure so that the student can be excused during this quarantine and to get further quarantine instructions. . The Staff is working very hard to keep our doors open and the students in the classrooms, we need some additional assistance in keeping students exhibiting any type of illness home until they are symptom free. This will assist in not having a spread of COVID-19 or any other illness in our school and allow those doors to remain open. Sincerely, Douglas A. Baldwin Beth Roe, RN Superintendent School Nurse

Dear Wolf Creek Schools Parents, Students and Community, As we move closer to the start of the 2020-21 school year, I wanted to update you on a few items which will make it possible to reopen. It is very important that we take into consideration all student’s and staff's health and safety. We continually are working with the Washington County Department on the best practices for reopening the school. At the current time, We plan to open for all students five days a week. Wolf Creek Local School Board has approved reopening guidelines for the 2020-21school year. The reopening will be based on the Ohio Public Health Advisory System and guidance from the Washington County Health Department. The first day of school will be August 24, 2020. We will be dismissing students at 1:00 for the first five days of school ( August 24, 25, 26, 27, 28). This will allow for teacher collaboration and extra cleaning in the buildings. Some of the items of interest we are putting in place to ensure student safety: All students K-12 will be assigned their own Chromebook to be used throughout the school day. In the event we are forced to go to a different form of instruction, blended or remote, students will be able to take this device home. Health screenings will be encouraged for all staff and students prior to coming to school each day. In addition, we will incorporate temperature checks as students enter the building. Social distancing will be promoted at all times. All student desks will be a minimum of 3 feet apart and face forward. Increased handwashing and use of hand sanitizer will be provided for all students and staff. There will be scheduled times for students to wash their hands in addition to the normal hand washing routine. We are in the process of placing hand sanitizer stations at all entrances, restrooms, bus entrances, and other high traffic areas. We will be increasing daily cleaning of the buildings and buses. Increase focus on high traffic areas and touch points throughout the school day. We will require face masks/shields for all staff who are within 6 feet of students or other adults. We will strongly recommend all students in grades 3-12 wear masks and require masks when students are less than 3 feet from another person Unless students are exempt due to medical reason. We will be providing a clear reusable face shield for all students and staff. We also will have disposable masks available for use by students and visitors. We would encourage all students to bring their own mask. As we begin the school year, we will not schedule any mass gatherings such as assemblies, open house, meet the teacher night nor will be scheduling any field trips at this time There will be a plan with the County Health Department for if a student or staff member test positive for COVID-19. The Health Department will handle all notifications and quarantine recommendations that will be completed if there is a positive case. A more detailed district plan will be posted after August 1 and it will be included in the district newsletter. We will continue to update you as we revise the plan as changes and further guidance is given. It is our belief that the best education is from in person education. We will continue to offer an online platform for students to complete educational work if they do not feel comfortable or have other related health reasons attending in person or have other related health reasons. Remember, that it is important to follow these guidelines to ensure that our students and staff are safe and healthy. The school is the heart of our community and it is very important that we all work together to keep our schools open for maximum learning to take place.
Kindergarten shots are available through the Washington County Health Department by appointment 740-374-2782 A drive-thru shot clinic will take place for any student 10 years or older at the Washington County Health Department on Friday, July 24th from 10am-3pm
Dear Wolf Creek Schools Parents, Students and Community, I hope all had a relaxing 4th of July Weekend. With the July 4th weekend behind us, the opening of school is just around the corner. Last Thursday Governor Dewine released several documents and guidelines for the restart of school in August. In addition, we are working with the Local Health Department to meet all necessary guidelines as we create our plan. It is our goal to open school with all students attending everyday as “normal” as possible. We believe that most families prefer this option of schooling. However, we will also make other options available for those who want a different option of schooling in the Fall. In order to meet these goals of opening school in a near “Normal” fashion. We have been and will continue to meet with staff to develop protocols and procedures to ensure safety of our students, staff, and school community. We are also making plans to be prepared if we are required to close later in the year and move to remote learning. We will have everything in place to allow this to happen. Items that we are currently working on: How to ensure social distancing in the classrooms and on the school buses. We are looking at the class lists and the bus routes to see what modifications need to be made. We are looking at the purchase of additional sanitation items to ensure that surfaces and high contact areas are thoroughly cleaned. We are working with the Local Health Department on notification and tracking methods. We are working on developing professional development for our staff to ensure that they have the training necessary to make this “new normal” successful. We are looking at lunch options and how to social distance and safely provide hot lunches to our students.
