April 2, 2020 COVID-19 Parent Update

Parents and Students,

I know that it is hard to believe that we will be out of school for another month.  I am sure that many of you are wondering what this means for the school year. I hope that I can provide some answers today.

Athletics:  The no contact period has been extended to May 1.  That means that there will be no practices during this time.  I think that we need to remain hopeful that OHSAA has not canceled the Spring Sports season at this time.  Remain hopeful that we will get this season in, even if that runs into summer. 

Prom:  At this time we are rescheduling Prom for May 16th.  This will give us some time to get through this and hopefully be back to semi-normal in order to have our Prom at WHS. 

Graduation:  At the present time we have not made any changes to graduation.  Please know that no matter what happens - - there WILL BE a Prom and a graduation for the students to participate in.  It may get pushed back even further, however it will happen. 

Assignments:  Many of our teachers are using Google Classroom.  Please have students continue to check there if you have internet access.  We will be adding parents to these Google Classrooms so that they can see what the students are working on.  As a parent, if you have not been added to your child’s Google Classroom, please email Mrs. Coleman so that you can be added.  The email addresses that are being used are those from Infinite Campus and there may be a need to have some of those updated. Paper copies will continue to be available to students who need them.  

Due Dates:  Students should be checking with their teachers and in Google Classroom if this is the method that they are receiving work.  The goal is that if work is assigned on a Monday then the students will have until the following monday to get that work completed and submitted.  There are many teachers that are having students complete projects and these will have different timelines. If you are unsure about this, please check with the child’s teacher. 

Submitting work:  Students are encouraged to submit everything electronically if they can.  The easiest way is to take a picture of the work and email it to the teacher.  If students are working in Google Classroom then they will submit their work there.  We are working to limit the number of times a paper is passed around to limit the spread of germs. 

Grading:  Grading will continue as normal as if we were in school.  Teachers will be grading all materials that are submitted.  We are unsure at this time how those grades will be figured into your grade for the year and are awaiting further guidance from ODE. 

Schedules for next year:  If you have not submitted your schedule to Mrs. Delaney, please do so soon.  You can take a picture of the schedule form or simply email her the courses that you are interested in taking next year.  (robyn.delaney@wolfcreeklocal.org)

Internet:  Although it is not convenient, just a reminder that you can access the school internet from both school parking lots.  Please remember to use social distancing - - this is not a time to meet with friends to hang out. 

Third Nine Weeks Grades

The Grades for the third nine weeks will be finalized this week and will be available on the Parent Portal by Friday.  If you have been working with your teacher to get work completed, your grade can be modified after this week.
