Zoom Parent Meeting Q&A

Our 1st Zoom W.E.S Parent Meeting had a few technical difficulties and the meeting did not record as planned. Below, you will find information and some questions that were discussed during the meeting. There will be another Zoom Parent Meeting this Thursday at 6:00 pm.

When are packets/online assignments made available and when are they due?

Student assignments and packets will be posted on the W.E.S website under Documents and Extended Work each Monday. For families that need to pick up a hard copy of the packet/assignment, it will be available at W.E.S on Mondays. New packets/assignments are made available on Mondays. Packets are due to be turned back in the following Monday. For example, next week, a packet will be available on April 6th and will be due the following Monday, April 13th.

How do I turn in my student's assignments?

All assignments should be turned in electronically, directly to the students teacher/s. We recommend that parents take a picture of the assignment and email it to your student's teacher/s. You may also send photos of the documents via Dojo, Google Classroom, email, Facebook, etc, depending on what method of communication your child's teacher is currently using. Please contact your child's teacher if you have additional questions about acceptable methods to turn in assignments.

Who should I send the assignments to? My child's homeroom teacher?

For grades K-2, please send your child's work directly to their homeroom teacher. For grades 3-8, if you know the teacher of the subject, please send the assignment directly to them. If you are unsure, you may send the assignment to your child's homeroom teacher and that teacher will forward it on to the appropriate recipient.

Are the blizzard bags and work already completed due soon? When do they need to be turned in?

If you have work that has not been turned in, please take photos of those assignments and email your child's teachers. Prior work should be turned into teachers preferably by this Monday, April 6th. If you need an extension, have questions or need additional assistance, please contact your child's teacher/s via email or Mrs. Thomas at jana.thomas@wolfcreeklocal.org

Should my child's teacher be communicating with us? How so?

All teachers will be reaching out to their students in a variety of ways-- email, phone, text, Dojo, Zoom, Google Classroom, personal letters, Remind App, Facebook, etc. Your teachers will reach personally to you/your child. If for any reason you have not heard from your child's teacher, please contact Mrs. Thomas at jana.thomas@wolfcreeklocal.org. Communication should be occurring on a regular basis.

When will grades/report cards for the 3rd 9 weeks come out?

Report Cards will not be mailed out for the 3rd 9 weeks. Teachers are posting grades this week. Parents may check for their child's finalized 3rd 9 weeks grades on Infinite Campus on Friday. If you have lost your Infinite Campus log in or need assistance, please contact Nan Varnadoe at nanette.varnadoe@wolfcreeklocal.org.

How are you grading? Pass/Fail like other schools?

Our current guidance from Mr. Baldwin, Wolf Creek Local Schools Superintendent, is to continue grading as we normally do, pending additional guidance from the Ohio Department of Education. We will keep you informed of any and all changes as they occur.

Is Reading Counts still occurring?

Currently, students do not have access to Reading Counts outside of school. Mrs. Kearns and Mrs. Thomas have looked into getting access with Mrs. Lisa Wagner. It is not possible through the Reading Counts program. Please encourage your child to continue to read and contact your child's teacher/s personally to inquire about the lifting of Reading Counts requirements.

If I have questions about my child's IEP, what should I do?

IEP meetings are able to be held digitally on Zoom, or parents may decline those meetings. IEP services still continue even if a meeting in declined. Please contact Mrs. Kylie Kincaid at kylie.kincaid@wolfcreeklocal.org for additional questions regarding IEP and 504s for students at Waterford Elementary School.

Will you all provide extensions for extenuating circumstances?

This is a crazy time and a crazy situation that we are currently dealing with. The staff at W.E.S wants to work with you and your child the best that we can to make this circumstance the least stressful that it can be. If a situation arise, please use open communication with your child's teacher/s and Mrs. Thomas and we will work together to resolve the issue. We love your children and will do the best that we can in these difficult times.

Please know that the staff at W.E.S misses your children so much and wishes that we were all back at school to work with them. Should you need any assistance at any time, please contact your teachers directly or Mrs. Jana Thomas at jana.thomas@wolfcreeklocal.org.
