Wolf Creek Local School District is located in northwestern Washington County and encompasses approximately 74 square miles. The district was formed around 1928 when three small districts in Palmer, Watertown, and Waterford Townships were consolidated.   The area is largely rural with the largest community being the unincorporated village of Waterford. This village has a population of 500 residents. Many people in the district work in an agriculture related job skill. There are, however, a few other industries in the district with other business in the area. The Marietta, Ohio-Parkersburg, West Virginia communities are nearby and offer a full range of goods and services.

The district presently has two school buildings: Waterford Elementary School, which houses 443 students in grades K-8, and Waterford High School, grades 9-12, which has 212 students at the present time . The district is serviced by Washington County Career Center.
